About this event

These are paintings that implore you to take your seconds, your hours and your days and use them to make your time here on earth all the more beautiful. To take your heart and your hurts and make something.

Using acrylic on canvas, Sally is stepping away from the seriousness of life by delving into play and thoughtfulness. Through the use of colour and intuition she explores her emotional state and lays it bare for you.

Sally Mckinnon

"Before I learned to work my way around a camera, my life was all about painting. I was heavily inspired by my art and English teachers who taught me about form and concepts. Painting was my meditation, my way of expressing that which I didn't have the words for. Expressive Portraiture was my focus for years, but during the pandemic, I started to really think about the limitation of language. I started to use my flow of consciousness to create these physical representations of my emotional state."

Sally has exhibited painting and creative photography in over 30 group and solo exhibitions across Australia, most recently as part of "Sarah's Collection of Scars", a book launch by Adelaide based writer and poet Sarah Hall, at the Rob Roy Hotel, Thursday the 8th of September 2022.

Sally will be exhibiting at the Joy of Flora Cafe in West Croydon as part of the 2023 Fringe Festival.
